Currently Unavailable (December 2020), for a less luxurious but good quality pillow with a silk feel, why not try the John Lewis Specialist Hint of Silk pillow.

This pillow surprised me… I expected a soft, luxurious, flat pillow which lacked bounce.  However, the John Lewis Silk Blend pillow was full and firm.  It does say it’s medium / firm, so I guess I should have believed them; the silk / polyester mix (40:60) offers this different type of feel and so it’s a good option for those requiring firmer support. It’s also a good natural anti allergy alternative to memory foam or latex.   I would recommend this pillow for back or side sleepers.

As a mum myself, this pillow is not for the whole family though – it is not machine washable, only spot clean.  I’d personally invest in a washable pillow protector to protect against accidental spills (Pillow protector section). The other point to note is the 100% cotton cover can be unzipped to expose the beautifully soft silk filling, which unfortunately would be spilling out onto my inquisitive 8 year old’s bed within days. I’m sure our cat would love to be rolling around in silk fibres but at a cost of £55 per pillow – no, thank you!

Like all pillows, it’s all about personal taste.  I was going to give it a 3 star review myself but so many other people love it,  I think I’m being a bit harsh!

If you’re after a bit of luxury and indulgence and you’re a side or back sleeper then this could be your best pillow.   It is very popular, and especially if you get hot at night or suffer from allergies, silk is one of the best possible choices you could make.   With a lovely silk pillowcase, you may find this the perfect pillow for you.
